senior picture tips for guys

Are you graduating this next year? Now that it is your turn for high school senior photos, I have a few senior picture tips for guys to help you get ready for your close-up. Follow these guidelines the weeks leading up to your session and I'll take care of the rest!

My First Senior Picture Tip for Guys - Your Clothing Matters

Look through your closet or dresser and choose two or three different items that go well together. If you don't do your own laundry or know how to use an iron, you may have to ask Mom to clean them and iron them, if they have any wrinkles. Put a pair of socks and shoes with the outfit. You want them to match also, so bring two colors of shoes, if needed.

Bring Your Props

Do you play football or any other sports? Play an instrument? It's best to get permission ahead of time to bring your uniform and helmet to your session. If you play an instrument, put your instrument with the rest of your things, so you don't forget it at the last minute. Your vehicle is also something you might want to add in to your session, so make sure it is washed and ready! Here are some examples of props you may want to bring.

Look Your Best

If you need a haircut before your session, it is best to get it done at least a week before. Getting a close shave is really important, as well. Stubble will really show up in those close-ups! Acne is something you don't even need to be worried about. I always do basic retouching, which means removing all the blemishes and redness.

My Last Senior Picture Tip for Guys

Do you have to smile? Boys usually don't have a problem with a natural smile, but you don't have to smile in every photo either. If I want you to smile, I will usually prompt you for a natural smile, by telling a joke, etc. I have a few tricks up my sleeve! 🙂 Mom's usually want at least one or two photos of you smiling.

There's nothing to be afraid of, or be nervous about. It's not like going to the dentist! Just use these senior picture tips for guys and try to relax and it will be over before you know it!
