The last blog was part 1 of our trip out west to see some of the national parks. We visited Hoover Dam first, and then our next stop was the Grand Canyon, South entrance.

The Beauty of the Grand Canyon

Being on the edge of the Grand Canyon is awe-inspiring! It is just so vast and deep! Many people enjoy hiking or riding mules to the bottom and back up. Those days are long gone for me!

Flora and Fauna

We didn't see any really interesting wildlife at the Grand Canyon, be we did see a Mule Deer browsing the shrubs as we entered the park. They warn not to feed any of the animals or birds, of course. But, they still come around checking to see if they can find anything interesting to snack on. This Raven was hanging around where people gathered on benches at an overlook.

Hermits Rest

Hermits Rest is at the very end of the trail. You can hike or rent a bike to get there or take the shuttle and get off at different overlooks along the way. We decided to walk until we were tired and then grab a shuttle and ride the rest of the way to Hermits Rest. All the shuttle rides are free.

Sunset at the Grand Canyon

Large groups of people ride the shuttle to the best sunset picture taking spots. Here I am along with everyone else, waiting for the sunset.

In Summary

I really loved visiting the south rim of the Grand Canyon. We went at the right time of year, early October, and the weather was perfect. It gets really cold in the evening, but the days are sunny and the perfect temperature.

Grand Canyon is a dark sky park also, so there are no bright lights anywhere in the evening. It's a great place to see the night sky. You will want to take a flashlight to find your way back to your parked car. My husband and daughter went to the rim and looked up at the stars, while I stayed in the warm heated car. Thanks for stopping by to enjoy my blog. You can head over and read my blog on the Hoover Dam, if you haven't already. I hope this is all useful information and helps you learn something new.
